Who are we?

The history of the Ötzi Bar

The Ötzi Bar is more than just a bar - it is a piece of living family history, embedded in the picturesque landscape of Lenk in the Simmental. Founded in 1997, our journey began as a modest family business. As a farmer's son and trained farmer, André Schläppi, the current owner, brought not only a love of nature but also a passion for genuine hospitality to the Ötzi Bar.

Over the years, not only did our popularity grow, but so did our dream of creating something bigger. In 2018, when the founders, André Schläppi's parents, decided to step out of the active business, it was time for a change. Faced with constant growth and the desire to offer our guests even more, André Schläppi decided to take the bold step of planning a new building.

The year 2023 marked a new milestone in our history: the construction and opening of our new restaurant and bar. Designed with great attention to detail, the new chalet combines traditional elements such as natural stone and wood with modern design and industrial chic. This new chapter in our history allows us to welcome our guests in a snow-sure location, on a larger scale, and to offer them an unforgettable experience.

In the Ötzi Bar you will find an inviting atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed lunch break on our terrace or for social après-ski hours. Our events with DJs add to the fun without losing the cosy and traditional atmosphere. We look forward to welcoming you and creating wonderful experiences together.

We have continued to evolve in our efforts to provide our guests with an all-round perfect experience. The change of location means that we are perfectly situated on the snow-covered slopes, allowing our guests to stay with us throughout winter. The Ötzi Bar is closed during the summer. The basement of the chalet is used as a shelter for suckler cows in summer, while in winter it serves as a warehouse and staff room. Thanks to the versatile use of the new chalet, we can run our snow bar in winter and in summer it is used for agricultural purposes for suckler cow farming.
